Where is our video data stored?
All footage and search indexes remain 100% on your on-premises EdgeTrace appliance, inside your facility and your network. No video or case data is transmitted to EdgeTrace or any third party. The only external connections are for software update downloads and agency-approved remote troubleshooting sessions, neither of which involves law enforcement data.
Is Vantage VMS CJIS compliant?
The architecture is designed to support your CJIS compliance obligations. Your agency maintains exclusive control over Criminal Justice Information, physical security, and encryption keys. EdgeTrace implements CJIS-aligned controls including FIPS 140-2 cryptography, multi-factor authentication, comprehensive audit logging, and vendor access controls per CJIS Security Policy Section 5.3.2.
Does it work with our existing cameras?
Yes. Vantage VMS is camera-agnostic and connects to the ONVIF and RTSP cameras you already operate, with auto-discovery and bulk CSV import. There is no proprietary camera hardware to buy. Can EdgeTrace access our system remotely?
Only with your explicit approval for each support session. All vendor access is time-limited to a maximum of 4 hours, requires multi-factor authentication, and is fully logged. You can terminate any vendor session at any time.
How does natural-language search work?
Describe what you are looking for in plain English, for example a white pickup with a ladder rack between 2 and 4 a.m. Vantage VMS searches the AI index built from your footage on the appliance and returns ranked results with match scores and timestamps across every connected camera, typically in under two seconds for a 30-day window.
What happens if the hardware fails?
EdgeTrace provides on-site repair within 2 business days for hardware failures at no additional charge, with advance replacement available for critical failures via 48-hour shipping. Administrator and end-user training are included with deployment, along with video training materials for reference.
